About

Why: Because we believe that great architecture can have a positive impact on our lives. Really great architecture can transform how we impact on our environment, how we learn in our schools, how we interact in our workplace and how we play in our time off.

How: Direct experience of buildings challenges our preconceptions of what is possible in design, raises awareness of new building technologies and most importantly, creates an expectation of quality design of our city’s built environment.

Open House Galway provides an exciting programme of building tours, children’s workshops, an international architectural competition and family events, which will allow you to experience great architecture up close and personal!

Who: Delivered in partnership with the Irish Architecture Foundation, Open House Galway joins a family of events that began 17 years ago in London. Open House has spread to New York, London, Dublin and now Galway, connecting us to a global network that raises awareness of architecture and builds new audiences with new ideas and opinions.

This is your festival and what you think matters. So come and enjoy your city’s architecture through Open House Galway.

Entry: All building tours, walking tours and children’ events are FREE. Some building tours require online pre-booking.

Pre-booking is open from 21st September until the 15th October 2009.
